Arrational Machines – ThingsCon – 2017-12

A talk given at Thingscon Amsterdam introducing and discussing the idea of Arrational Machines - machines that exceed the bounds of production and consumption and exist to enhance human potential and spiritual existence. The lecture takes a position agains tthe odminant narratives of productivity and efficiency and calls on designers to consider the existential condition of being human as a design factor. 

The lecture is structured around different relationships between machines and imagination.
